What is ISO?<\/h3>\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iso.org\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ISO is an international standard-setting body<\/a>\u00a0composed of representatives from various national standards organisations. They develop and publish various standards, guidelines and technical reports across all industries and sectors. There is even an ISO standard for making a cup of tea \u2013\u00a0 ISO 3103:2019<\/p>\r\n<p>Amtivo, formerly Certification Europe, specifically audits against management systems.<\/p>\r\n<h3>2. Is there a legal requirement to obtain certification?<\/h3>\r\n<p>Currently, in Ireland, there is no legal requirement to obtain any ISO certification.<\/p>\r\n<h3>3. Why should a company become ISO certified?<\/h3>\r\n<p>A company would choose to become certified to a specific standard for a multitude of reasons. The main reasons would be<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>Demonstrate best practice<\/li>\r\n\t<li>To streamline their process and procedure<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Reassurance to clients and stakeholders the company complies with an international framework<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Reputation<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Cost savings<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Competitive advantage<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h3>5. How long does the certification audit take?<\/h3>\r\n<p>A certification audit is split into two stages with an 8 \u2013 12 week gap in between.<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li><strong>Stage 1<\/strong>\u00a0which is a minimum of 1 \u2013 2 days<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Stage 2<\/strong>\u00a0which is a minimum of 2 \u2013 3 days<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h3>6. How long is the ISO certificate valid for, and are there audits during that time?<\/h3>\r\n<p>The ISO certificate is valid for three years. Throughout the three-year life-cycle, surveillance audits will take place. They are conducted on a bi-annual basis.<\/p>\r\n<h3>7. Does the ISO standard have to apply to all departments within the company?<\/h3>\r\n<p>No, when choosing to become certified, you and your team will define the Scope of Certification. The scope describes the section of the company (and its activities) you would like to be certified to. The scope can include the whole company, a specific section or a specific location.<\/p>\r\n<h3>8. Is Amtivo an accredited body?<\/h3>\r\n<p>Yes, Amtivo, formerly Certification Europe, is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inab.ie\/inab-directory\/certification-bodies\/management-systems-certification\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accredited under INAB<\/a> (Irish National Accreditation Board).<\/p>\r\n<h3>9. Can Amtivo help with implementing the ISO management system?<\/h3>\r\n<p>No, as an accredited certification body, we must remain independent from the ISO system, as it would be a conflict of interest. Many ISO consultants in Ireland and UK can assist in building an ISO system for your company.<\/p>\r\n<h3>10.
