Certification Requirements in Practice 

There are already clear examples across UK procurement: 

NHS Supply Chain requires valid ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 certification for relevant suppliers participating in its framework agreements, subject to its specified requirements. 

Cyber Essentials is also increasingly relevant across government and supply chains. In April 2026, the UK government called on organisations to certify to or align with Cyber Essentials and encouraged its requirements to be embedded across supplier bases. 

In digital procurement, frameworks such as G-Cloud 15 demonstrate the importance of being able to evidence the required quality, technical capability and supplier credentials before an organisation can compete. 

Requirements differ from opportunity to opportunity, so the key question is:
