In September 2023, the British Standards Institution (BSI) introduced PAS 2030:2023, superseding the previous PAS 2030:2019+A1:2022 certification. As the 2019 standard phases out by 30th March 2025, it’s important to understand the implications of the changes.
Changes to the PAS 2030 standard: What you need to know
In September 2023, the British Standards Institution (BSI) published the new PAS 2030:2023 standard, replacing the previous PAS 2030:2019+A1:2022 certification. With the impending withdrawal of the 2019 standard on 30th March 2025, it’s important to understand the implications of this transition.
Understanding the updates
The updated certification reflects recent industry developments and sets out requirements for installing energy efficiency measures (EEM) in existing dwellings. To understand the full extent of these changes, you can access the PAS 2035/2030:2023 document here.
What do the changes mean for certified installers?
Those already certified to PAS 2030:2019 can maintain their current certification while also obtaining PAS 2030:2023. This dual certification allows for the completion of ongoing 2019 projects and the start of 2023 projects.
What do the changes mean for new installers?
For new installers, entry into PAS 2030 requires compliance with the requirements of the PAS2030:2023 standard to achieve certification. From 1st April 2024, certification for newcomers to the 2019 version will stop.
Project completion deadlines
Projects operating under the PAS 2030:2019+A1:2022 standard must be finalised by 30th March 2025, with documentation lodged with TrustMark within 20 working days after completion. After this deadline, all trade codes for 2019 will be removed.
Transition timeline:
Moving forward, all assessments conducted from 1st April 2024 onwards will adhere to PAS 2030:2023 standards during scheduled surveillance assessments. If you meet the requirements of the 2023 standard, you’ll receive certification for it alongside your existing 2019 certification until it’s no longer needed, or until 30th March 2025.
Remaining compliant:
New projects should align with the PAS 2030:2023 version to remain compliant with the latest industry standards. By staying informed and proactive, certified installers can seamlessly navigate the transition and uphold their commitment to quality and safety.
