PAS 2035 and PAS 2030 have introduced mandatory ventilation assessments and upgrades as part of the new standards that apply to all publicly funded energy efficiency retrofit measures.
Ventilation requirements
Ventilation requirements can cause the most failures if they are not understood fully. To ensure the property has suitable ventilation, someone appropriately qualified must review the design for the project, also taking into account existing ventilation and any proposed, to ensure that the property will be adequately ventilated, following the completion of any energy efficiency improvements.
If you are unsure of any of the above, your retrofit coordinator, the system designer, or the manufacturer can usually offer advice or assistance.

Inspection findings
Findings raised at the inspection (Major/Minor) must be rectified in the given time which will be documented on the inspection report. Not providing adequate evidence of this within the timescale could put your PAS 2030 certification in jeopardy.
The same rules apply for CAT1/CAT2 failures raised from any technical monitoring conducted. If these are not rectified with the inspection body then the British Assessment Bureau, as your certification body will be notified which again could affect the status of your certification and Trustmark registration.
Looking to become PAS 2030 certified?
PAS 2030 was released in July 2019 to support the government’s increased focus on energy efficiency. The standard sets out requirements for installers and is endorsed by the government for public funding, such as HUG (Home Upgrade Grant), starting in April 2022.
- The standard will not only help support the environmental objectives of the business but open up revenue streams.
- Becoming PAS 2030 and Trustmark accredited opens up significant revenue streams for installers, including government grant funding.
