Being one of the first Certification Bodies to achieve accreditation for the latest ISO 9001:2015, our attention immediately turned to attaining the same result for the ISO 14001:2015 standard, at the end of last year.
Following a very similar process, UKAS have completed the necessary work at our offices to ensure that – on paper – we deliver. The final step is to ensure our Auditors are following suit in practice, which involves UKAS witnessing audits with clients. These have been arranged, which means we are on schedule to complete the accreditation process in March. This will mean we can offer UKAS accreditation certificates to the new standard with the coveted ‘crown and tick’ logo.

Keith Goddard, Head of Compliance, commented on the culmination of the work involved thus far, saying;
“I am delighted that everything is going to plan. We wanted to give clients the opportunity to stand out from their competitors with the option to be one of the first to achieve certification to the new 2015 standard, so it’s great to see that almost 70% of clients have opted to transition as soon possible. This justifies our investment in being one of the first Certification Bodies to begin the UKAS accreditation process.”
The accreditation process with UKAS has been used as an opportunity to review everything we do relating to certification. We’re pleased to have made a number of positive changes benefitting both new and existing clients, with more to come throughout 2016.
In the meantime, BAB are part of QS/1 committees for ISO standards, where our aim it to fight the corner for SMEs to ensure management system standards remain relevant for smaller businesses into the future.
