Why Is ISO 14001 Changing?
ISO 14001 is being revised to reflect evolving environmental priorities, regulatory pressures, and stakeholder expectations. The 2026 update strengthens requirements around climate change, decarbonisation, supply chain sustainability, and measurable environmental performance – ensuring Environmental Management Systems remain credible, effective, and aligned with global environmental objectives.
These revisions go beyond minor technical amendments. They influence how organisations assess environmental risks, manage impacts, and demonstrate continual improvement within their management systems.

The latest revision builds on this foundation, strengthening alignment with modern business practices, sustainability expectations, and regulatory realities.
