What Is the ISO 14001:2026 Transition?
ISO 14001:2026 was published in April 2026 by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), introducing updates and clarifications to the internationally recognised environmental management system standard.
Organisations currently certified to ISO 14001:2015 have a transition period until 30th April 2029 to transition their certification to ISO 14001:2026.
The transition isn’t about starting from scratch. It is about understanding where your current system needs to evolve and this course is designed to equip you with the necessary information.

Why Is ISO 14001 Changing?
Environmental expectations don’t stand still – and neither does the standard designed to meet them. The 2026 revision reflects how significantly the landscape has shifted since the last update, with greater regulatory pressure, more demanding stakeholder expectations, and a sharper global focus on measurable environmental outcomes.
The updated standard strengthens requirements in certain areas so that Environmental Management Systems stay credible and effective.
Who Is the Course Suitable For?
This course is suitable for anyone with responsibility for maintaining ISO 14001 certification at their organisation – whether you’re an environmental manager, a quality or compliance lead, or a director overseeing the transition process.
No specialist prior knowledge beyond your existing familiarity with ISO 14001 is required. The aim is for learners to come away with a clear understanding of the updated standard’s requirements, where your management system may need to change, and how to prepare for a successful transition audit with confidence.
