As we witness the appalling events happening in Ukraine we are united in our support for the victims. Below we explain how we will take action to support the people of Ukraine in their time of need.
We have all watched with horror as we have witnessed the appalling events unfolding in Ukraine. It is almost unfathomable that such an avoidable catastrophe should be happening in the 21st century, yet we are witnessing it – and the people of Ukraine are living it – every day.
In light of these events, we are keen to express unequivocal support for Ukraine as a nation and for its people. As a result, and with immediate effect, we have implemented a cross-group project to focus on ways we, both as an organisation and as individuals, can support the people of Ukraine.
Where permissible, we will encourage applications from Ukrainian refugees for suitable roles within the Group and we are engaging with our colleagues to share information about opportunities to provide assistance to charities involved in helping Ukrainian refugees. We will also be making a donation to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC). The DEC brings together 15 leading UK aid charities, all of which are experts in providing humanitarian aid quickly and effectively – www.dec.org.uk.
We hope for rapid progress in finding a diplomatic resolution to this situation, however, this will not remove the – already catastrophic – damage caused, which is why our support for the Ukrainian people will continue for as long as is necessary.
