Greenford now have management systems in place for quality, environmental and health and safety. This ensures they’re following the best practice in these regards.
Greenford are a civil engineering company who specialise in heritage projects. Recently, Greenford carried out restoration work on a prestigious boathouse at Winkworth Arboretum for the National Trust. We went to Winkworth Arboretum to meet Greenford’s Managing Director, Claire Greenwood, to discuss their ISO journey.
At BAB, we provide our clients with templates that they can access on their client area. Claire mentioned that these toolkits ‘assisted them greatly’ in achieving certification. “The British Assessment Bureau were very supportive and helpful.”
The British Assessment Bureau were very supportive and helpful.
Claire also praised the ‘prompt’ communication, highlighting that having a dedicated auditor as a single point of contact was ‘a great help’.
BAB are accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), who audit us to ensure we’re working to the highest standards. Claire highlighted the importance of UKAS.
With UKAS, you know that the people auditing you have the right qualifications to do so.
For many tenders, a UKAS accredited ISO certificate is a requirement.
ISO 9001 is the quality management standard, Claire told us that it has ‘set a benchmark’ for Greenford. It has given them a standardised management system that ‘ensures quality throughout.’
ISO 9001 has given us a robust quality management system to manage all of our projects.
Claire also mentioned that having the ISO 9001 certification has given Greenford the edge in tenders as it ‘demonstrates value’ to potential clients.
When working on a heritage site, it’s important to consider the environmental implications. Having ISO 14001 demonstrates to clients that Greenford take their environmental responsibilities seriously.
ISO 14001 gives our clients the assurance that we have the correct systems and procedures in place.
Restoring the boathouse at Winkworth Arboretum to ensure its structural integrity for the future is a prestigious project. Achieving ISO 14001 demonstrates to our key clients, that we too hold environmental conservation at the heart of our values and it is embedded in the ethos of how we conduct our business.
Being an engineering company, health and safety is ‘at the forefront’ of everything Greenford do.
Making sure everyone goes home safe at the end of the day is the most important thing, OHSAS 18001 helps us do that.
Every engineering project has health and safety risks, OHSAS 18001 helps to eliminate them.
Greenford have seen that the UKAS accreditation, which the British Assessment Bureau have, has brought experience, competence and a streamlined process to us achieving our ISO certification.
